Why didnt hawkeye get a movie

Related: Every Upcoming Marvel Movie. But here's the catch: While Hawkeye's story worked at first, upon closer inspection, Endgame just didn't quite give the Ronin story the payoff it deserved.

The issue was an understandable one; Avengers: Endgame was a jam-packed movie, attempting to accomplish so much in the space of just three hours, and something was always going to give. Unfortunately, it was Ronin. Avengers: Endgame opened with a haunting and emotional scene in which Clint Barton was confronted with the horror of the snap.

No Avenger suffered more than Hawkeye from the snap; his wife and children were dusted, in a chilling and effective scene that drove home the human cost of Thanos' genocidal actions. Using this to open the film established a bleak, somber tone and established the scale of the threat facing the universe. Fast forward five years, and Avengers: Endgame revealed that Hawkeye had gone rogue. He was first mentioned in a team briefing, where War Machine told Black Widow he'd successfully tracked Clint down to Mexico.

Rhodey had arrived a little too late, though, and instead of coming across Hawkeye he'd found his victims. The murders were so brutal that War Machine wasn't even sure he wanted to find Clint. As the film continued, it was revealed that something had broken inside Hawkeye; angered at the arbitrary nature of the snap, he'd dedicated himself to slaughter the guilty who should have died in the Snap in the place of innocents like his wife and kids.

When Black Widow finally tracked Clint down in Japan, she was shaken at the sight of him killing a Japanese crime lord. The story is immediately familiar to comic book readers. In the comics, Hawkeye adopted the Ronin identity at one of the darkest times of his life. In the modernized Ultimate universe, just as in the MCU, the trigger was the death of his entire family.

Hawkeye turned into a Punisher figure, seeking out criminals and murdering them in his own form of justice. The overarching idea is translated from page to screen in a remarkably comic-book-accurate way, and fans were thrilled. But then Marvel dropped the ball. Black Widow successfully persuaded Ronin to return with her to the Avengers Compound - and that's where the problems begin.

Jeremy Renner returns to play Clint Barton in Hawkeye, reprising a role he's now been playing for 10 years since Thor's first solo movie. After a long period of speculation, it was confirmed that actress Hailee Steinfeld True Grit, Bumblebee will play Kate Bishop, after the actress was photographed on-set in late Steinfeld decided to play Bishop because she trusted Marvel, according to an interview with Collider.

It's been a wonderful experience, developing this character and taking elements of her from the comics and what we know with her history.

It's just very exciting to be playing a character, much like Emily, that is so loved by so many people. It seems likely we'll see Bishop return in other projects on the big screen down the line — just like how Disney Plus show Ms. Marvel will have its titular character appear in Captain Marvel 2, otherwise known as The Marvels. In the comics, Echo is a deaf Native American who can perfectly copy another person's movements.

She's similar to Taskmaster in that respect, and we can expect her to be the show's major or at least secondary antagonist. Zahn McClarnon will play Maya's father William. A news story revealing Farmiga's casting by The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that actress Florence Pugh is also involved in the show. She played Yelena Belova in the Black Widow movie and, judging by its post-credits scene , it's likely that she'll be after Barton to seek revenge for Natasha Romanoff's death in Endgame.

They also directed the Amazon Prime movie Troop Zero, which received mostly positive reviews when it was release in For some time, the only official information we knew about Hawkeye's plot is that Clint will train Kate Bishop as his potential successor.

With some scenes being filmed on-location in New York, it's likely the series is at least partially set there. The show's first trailer confirmed as much, too, with the Manhattan skyline featuring prominently.

After the events of Black Widow, though, we may finally know more about the plot of the series, including one of its villains. As we touched on above, the film's after-credits scene, which is set after Avengers: Endgame, sees Yelena Belova at the grave of Natasha Romanoff a. Black Widow.

While paying her respects, Yelena is visited by her new boss Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine the same character who hired John Walker after he was dishonorably discharged during Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Valentina shows Yelena a picture of Hawkeye and explains he is the man who killed Natasha. Given the close bond between Yelena and Natasha, it's likely she'll want to take revenge on Hawkeye, even if we know that he's actually innocent. As such, we'll probably see Florence Pugh appear in the upcoming series as one of its antagonists.

Clint did wear his Ronin costume in Endgame , though the movie shied away from calling him by a new moniker. What's more, it seems that Hawkeye will lose his hearing in the show, which sets up the arrival of Clown, a villain who stabbed Clint with several arrows and permanently damaged his eardrums. Variety confirmed that a character by the name of Kazi aka, Kazimierz Kazimierczak will appear in the show, lending credence to Clown as one of the show's primary antagonists.

Echo, a deaf Native American superhero who can mirror other people's physical movements, is also expected to make her debut on the show. Her history with the Kingpin, the villain who raised her after killing her father, could prove vital to Hawkeye's storyline. Meanwhile, Hailee Steinfeld has been cast in the role of Kate Bishop. Set photo leaks revealed that the pair of archers will also be joined by a golden retriever named Lucky the Pizza Dog.

Here is the full cast list:. Check them out in the above Instagram post. It's possible that her arrival will mark the first time that she'll go by the Black Widow moniker following Natasha's death in Endgame. Now that she's stateside, she might assist Clint and Kate in whatever mission they get up to next.
