You play what you like and how you like. The general concept is from the series of books by John Norman, a cyclic writer who imagined a world just like ours on the other side of the sun, that tends to steal people from our current earth. They have technology that is controlled by "Gods" whom have only allowed medical advancements to pass into society.
Sickness is rare and no one ages. Medical advancements are the only advancements, however, and everything else is basically out of a Conan adventure. There are many places that are very strict to the structure and laws of the books You'll see 'BTB' a lot in those areas - and others that loosely play "the general idea" of the books You can also observe RP at various locations - simply search an area and pick up an observer tag.
The players will ignore you and go about their business and its a good way to see if you might enjoy something like that. Good luck and have fun! Pussycat, even though I am an active Gorean roleplayer, that quote is sheer genius.. Quote of the month for sure.. Thanks . Where is all this coming from! Gor is what you make it! Whatever role you wish to play is up to you. I have been in Gor for over 4 years! I am not lesbian nor a sex kitten. Play the way you want!
If you don't want be involved in a certain roleplay Like most things in life in even this second one you are the one that decides what you wish and do not wish to be a part of! Btw, am a Panther I have met some good ppl and some not so great ppl.. Just like in RL! Crazy stuff, but I would partake if I was good at RP, all I can do is post general conversation style.
I can see where the Gorean life style would suite men. I haven't gotten into it because I don't think it suits me and I can't see how a woman would want a man telling her what to do. I'm down for freedom and women's rights. But I do have submissive friends. I find them sane in most parts of their life even if I do wonder about their sanity in their submissive areas.
But, that is my biases at work. They have made me curious about the submissive side of sexual behavior. In Second Life you can safely explore any of these life styles without the RL problems we run into when experimenting with what our peers may consider socially unacceptable. Quite often they will then try to force us to conform.
This is something not possible in SL, the forcing. It is one of the more interesting aspects of Second Life that we can experiment in ways not possible or way too risky in RL. Audra points out one of the big problems in the forum and SL, the ignorant voicing opinions, which is why I can't say much more than to point out you can safely play with varied life styles in SL.
So as to whether you should try it, only you can answer that question. I can say it is safer to try it in SL than any other place I can think of. So, while you can you collect other people's opinions about the varied aspects of SL you can also find people actually exploring and participating in them. So, you can get first hand information and experiences and probably some real insights.. Of course you have the everyday RL problem of sorting out which people are being honest with you from those running an agenda.
We have to sort out the mentally ill, ignorant, haters, prejudiced, and malicious, of which there seems to be an abundance in SL. Reference So, if any political party were to come up with the Gorean concept of forcing women into slavery, it seems the DNC is well on the way there.
If you have never read Rules for Radicals, you can get it on Amazon. It is must read for anyone that has to sort propaganda from honest opinion. Progressives people are thought to accept a diversity of ideas for discussion. But, reading 'Rules' one can see that idea is only given lip-service by so called progressive leaders. All the tactics in Rules are designed to ridicule those with opposing opinions into silence and end discussion. Just pay atention to who uses tactics from Rules.
Once one identifies such people they can ignore them and move on to engage people actually debating ideas. Senate Democrats did vote against a bill that prohibits judges from applying foreign law in family-law cases if it contradicts United States public policy.
In reality, though, the bill would have essentially codified existing practice. We rate this claim Pants on Fire. Again from the article you cited:. I'll admit that I haven't researched the debate that went on, why the Dems who personally I am not any more or less fond of than I am of the Republicans opposed the bill.
But it reads to me more like the Republicans were simply playing on a created imaginary fear to look good in the eyes of their constituents.
As stated, Gor is based on a series of novels by John Norman. The people are given a potion that keeps them from aging so you rarely see an old Gorean.
If you do, they are of the small percentage that the potion doesn't work on. Females are divided into slaves and Free Women. Depending on the book, the free women may or may not wear a face veil but their hair is covered as is all skin from neck to feet. They can be in any of the existing castes and the castes wear a specific color of clothing to identify them.
For Free Women, think Victorian England as far as what they can and can't do. Slave girls are used for the males to relieve their lusts on. If you read the books, the slave women are carefully brainwashed by training. Register Don't have an account? Edit this page. History Talk 0. Types of Roles There are many roles in the world of Gor.
